Right now when I write this it’s 8 degrees Fahrenheit plus whatever wind chill there is.
If you see someone that is homeless or at risk please, at the very least offer them something. Money, info on where and how to find a shelter …. you can look up in your city shelters, churches, anywhere they can get help and print it out on some papers or cards and hand it to them.
Of course your safety is important too, so use your better judgement, but don’t just ignore them and think they either don’t matter or they’ll be ok, because in temps like this, they won’t just be ok.
Here are a few links with various ideas, read up, research on your own and decide what you can and should do please AND PLEASE contact people in public office and try to get across that helping people needing help is actually cheaper and easier than ignoring them or destroying their tents and throwing them in jail.
Look into groups that are around you or in your city that are working on that, if there is no one, look into finding others that already work on it where they live and you can learn what works and doesn’t work for them trying to change things for the better.
